Changes Made to Calculating Patient Volume: As a result of end-to-end test of our business and application processes, the state is moving to a more simplified approach to patient volume calculation that will save time.  Specifically, we will be simplifying our approach from one based on calculating an exact number of eligible encounters to one where a reasonable estimate of eligible encounters is determined from an auditable data source.

In support of this change, the state will be providing a single multiplier to calculate ineligible CHIP and "State Only" encounters, eliminating the administrative burden associated with pulling and reconciling a detailed report for each individual, group or hospital. Each participant will now calculate their own patient volume from their respective data source(s).  You will not receive a patient volume report from the state. This will reduce the potential for underreporting in patient volume numbers.

For more information on how to use the multiplier, please see the 2011 application worksheets for professionals and hospitals located on the EHR Incentive Program website.

Upcoming Webinar — Opening of the State EHR Incentive Program Application — July 28

As mentioned above, our educational Webinar series will continue with an hour dedicated to covering how to complete the state's EHR Incentive Program online application and highlighting changes to the process related to patient volume calculation.  This is will be a must for anyone preparing to submit an application and Washington Medicaid is encouraging all interested parties to participate. Space is limited so register here today!
