Dear RHCAW Members,
We have continued our efforts to stand up for rural health clinics in Washington State. RHCAW has again been hard at work in both dollars, and countless volunteer hours, trying to be sure our clinics have the fairest possible Medicaid reimbursement now, and in the future. Our advocacy on your behalf is even more critical at this time of fundamental change in health care; our goal is to assure continued viability for all Washington RHCs.

Our Efforts:
We are now stretching into our seventh year working with the Health Care Authority (HCA) about the reconciliation process. This has continued to take the majority of our time and effort over the past year. We were successful two years ago in finally getting payment for RHCs who were owed money for 2009, and in getting a 65% reduction on the recoupment amounts for RHCs who were deemed as owing money. 2009 is now finally in our rear view mirror!
We’ve spent many hours working with the HCA to create a less onerous reconciliation process for RHCs for 2010 forward. However as you have seen, it is very much still a work in progress as all of 2010 has not yet finalized. We will continue to work to improve this process.
Our Legislative Action Committee has also been working hard on future payment issues, including trying to find better options for RHCs to help their sustainability in the future.
We hope you realize the incredible value your clinics have received for your past dues with RHCAW, and see the need for continued RHCAW efforts on your behalf going forward. RHCAW would not exist without your membership, and the many volunteer hours of its members.
