I do billing for an independent RHC and am having problems getting the insertion and/or removal of IUD’s and Nexplanon paid for. Can anyone tell me if these services are considered an encounter? Or should we be billing both the product and insertion and/or removal as FFS to Apple Health?

Morgan,
I apologize. I was supposed to get an email notification when someone posts a question in the forum, I do not think I did.
The IUD itself is separately reimbursable as it’s not on the RHC Medicare cost report therefore, it’s not included in the encounter rate. The insurance and removal would then be encounter eligible as those are office visits that would be considered in the cost report.
